If Darth got killed by an Ewok that showed up out of the blue on a speeder then yea, he would have ultimately been a meaningless pawn.
But he redeems himself and kills Palpatine which makes him more than a simple lackey like Bane ended up being.

has anyone ever noticed vader doesn't kill anyone in jedi...I don't even want to discuss that movie...frick I hate it so much
