Cause that rowdy arse song would have sent the crowd into a rage?? WTF? What could calm 3000 people on the field down more than the alma mater?

Why does everyone always assume that things are done for no reason with no thought or planning? My thought is that the band shut down and didn't play the alma mater solely to piss YOU off….

Maybe the people in charge of security didn't want the noise of the band to interfere with their ability to communicate with each other in the event things had gotten out of hand on the field? Maybe the band was told to be quiet so the medical people could work on the dying guy who had a heart attack? Maybe there was some sort of other logical reason.

Point is…you people complain, bitch about, and analyze things that you have NO idea about. Plans are put into place for a reason, and even if we aren't privy to those specific reasons, they are there and have been well thought out. Sorry you were inconvenienced.

If neck would have been played Saturday night there might have been a major earthquake take place in the state of Louisiana. That place was just waiting for a massive explosion, and that would have taken it to a whole different level.

It was awesome being in there Saturday. It has not been that rowdy from beginning to end in quite some time.

Why are you guys not allowed to play Neck, even though STTDB is yelled for whatever other random song is played?

It's not up to us. Anybody that knows the staff knows that we love interacting with the fans, and having the fans interact with our music. The no playing of Neck comes straight from somebody higher up.

Why no Tuba Quake during the games?

It'd be difficult to play in the stands. And it's just kind of something we've never considered playing in the stands. We did it once in 2012, and it got shut down pretty quick.

Due to crowd control issues, Athletics didn't want the band playing with the field covered with people.

That's a lame arse excuse

You/we are talking about the pretty slow song, the alma mater, right? Not the Stadium Entrance Song (name gets confused all the time).

No, I am not mad.

I just hate how people on here question every little thing….as if they are smarter and more in tune than the people who are actually involved in the decision making.

You make a great sheep.

The point everyone here is making is that the reason given is crap.

So you come here and even entertain the idea that it could possibly be because of the guy that died in the South endzone? Could you be any trashier?

I originally was talking about the drum cadence (long version), for when the band is marching to and from the stadium. Later in the thread, it turned into why the band didn't play the alma mater with all of the fans on the field with the team.

Just doing what we're told to do.

But I make sure to tip my fedora and accept their gratitude with a slow "m'lady" as I leave

Because they play the alma mater at the end of every game and don't play the drum cadence.

Playing the AM with the field packed would have been awesome

Back in the day I watched my friend get the business from the band. Friend deserved it. I don't think they are nerds, but even if they are, you do not want to mess with them. In large numbers they can kick Chuck Norris' arse.

I was talking about outside the stadium, marching back to the band hall. Tuba guy knows what I'm alluding to.

Break the band's ranks...pay the consequences! Back in my marching days with the Tiger Band, there were no iron fencing or police barracades. We had to physically push fans out of the street marching up and down Victory Hill. Every so often some drunk arse would try to run thru. They never made it.

Just my 2 cents. Playing the AM would calmed the situation and focused the crowd on the band. Now playing pregame would been pouring gas on a fire lol.

I definitely think they should try to incorporate the Tuba quake into the play set at the game.
