I asked about "blackness" in response to this statement and because I'm fortunate enough to live in a very nice neighborhood. We have many black families in there and see most of them out doing their lawn walking their dogs, etc.
I'm not sure I've witnessed them doing anything "black." They just do the things normal people do. When dude is out cutting his grass, one hand isn't holding up his pants. When he walks his dog, it isn't some fight marred up pit bull, it's a little furry yapper that would sit on your Aunt Martha's tit at Thanksgiving. Although his wife does drive a Cadillac, it's not sporting 28" rims or blaring rap music. His beverage of choice after cutting said grass seems to be Miller Lite, not Colt 45.
If "most black folk only care about the Blackness of themselves" and none of the blacks in my neighborhood are doing what Sir Charles explained; WTH is "blackness?"
Don't get caught up in the stereotype about black people. It's all about education. It's about teaching and raising your children to know right from wrong and how to get an education to get ahead in life. I don't look at whites who live in trailer homes and run meth labs or screw their sisters and think that all white people are like that. I think there is a small percentage of white people that are like that but I'm not surprised when I see white people out cutting their grass and walking their dogs. A small percentage of black people do fit the stereotypes you mentioned. However, it is a small percentage. Unfortunately, a large percentage of white people in America seem to believe that is the norm. Reading your comments just seemed to scream "wow, there are black people that are just regular normal people."

I know plenty of decent smart hard working black people
But there are big populations of ghetto arse black people in every city in America
Sorry for seeing this with my eyes.

This reminds me of Bill O'Reilly. Do you remember when he had dinner with Al Sharpton at a Harlem restaurant?
quote:
After eating dinner at a famed Harlem restaurant recently, Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly told a radio audience he "couldn't get over the fact" that there was no difference between the black-run Sylvia's and other restaurants.
"It was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun," he said. "And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all."
O'Reilly said his fellow patrons were tremendously respectful as he ate dinner with civil rights activist Al Sharpton. . . . . .
He said he treated Sharpton to dinner to thank him for appearing on his Fox News Channel show.
O'Reilly pointed to the lack of difference between Sylvia's and other restaurants as a marker of racial progress. He also noted that he went to an Anita Baker concert recently where the audience was evenly mixed between blacks and whites.
"The band was excellent, but they were dressed in tuxedoes, and this is what white America doesn't know, particularly people who don't have a lot of interaction with black Americans," he said. "They think the culture is dominated by Twista, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg."
Williams concurred that too many people believe there's little else in black culture beyond profane rap.
"That's right," O'Reilly said. "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M.F.-er, I want more iced tea."
Sharpton said he was taken aback that anyone would be surprised at how blacks acted at Sylvia's and will ask O'Reilly on The O'Reilly Factor Wednesday to explain what he meant.
