People get so caught up in strength of schedule nowadays that they forget about record. It's a poor understanding of statistics by the average sports fan that causes this IMO. People don't think understand there is a big difference in probability of beating a team you are better than 12/13 times versus 10/13 times.

That's a fair point. If LSU, Bama, ND, etc.. played nothing but FCS schools and went undefeated, it doesn't necessarily mean they are bad.

BUT....that is not the argument here. The argument is that ND is overrated.

Based on the OP's statistics, they don't win fare well against ranked teams. (Especially highly ranked teams in bowl games)

Yet every year the Irish get touted as a top program and receive high rankings only to to forcibly removed from a top bowl game because of random losses to crap teams or get blown out in any major bowls they go to.

They produce NFL talent. They aren't trash, and currently deserve a spot in the top 25.

But by definition, they are overrated at #6.
