During that conversation he goes on some spiel about how life is too short and this has changed him. He's now willing to grow up and leave all of that immaturity behind. She's starts to believe him.

I don't know if the chick will buy it but I have no doubt the guy will try to pitch some version of what I just described.

From what I've been able to surmise, this guy is at the very least a backup guy for her. Stay alert.
