Give me some evidence of guerrilla groups thriving in free societies.
"Free" is irrelevant, it's the willingness to not point out the zealots, to not report them to the police, to not shout them down, to not call them out that helps them grow.
quote:
What are you even trying to say? What do you want to happen?
Either for the Muslim groups to better police themselves by overtly pushing out the radicals and/or reporting them to the police or begin the McCarthy-era style of blacklists. I would MUCH rather the former, but if they aren't going to take enough of a visible stance, then their silence only emboldens the zealots and causes the rest of society to call for the latter.
As more of these events happen and the Muslim community is ether silent or just phones in their stance against them and those that call for such events, anti-Muslim sentiment will continue to grow.
So is it time yet for Western Muslims start taking a more active role in wedding out the radicals or is it time for the rest of Western society to start painting them all with the same brush?

quote:There must be some reason why you single out Muslims? Why?
My proposal is to push the Western Muslims into being more proactive in weeding out the radicals.
quote:
Of the more than 300 American deaths from political violence and mass shootings since 9/11, only 33 have come at the hands of Muslim-Americans, according to the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security.
Furthermore,
quote:
Since 9/11, [Charles Kurzman, Professor of Sociology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, writing for the Triangle Center on Terrorism and National Security] and his team tallies, 33 Americans have died as a result of terrorism launched by their Muslim neighbors. During that period, 180,000 Americans were murdered for reasons unrelated to terrorism. In just the past year, the mass shootings that have captivated America’s attention killed 66 Americans, “twice as many fatalities as from Muslim-American terrorism in all 11 years since 9/11,” notes Kurzman’s team.
And finally,
quote:
Law enforcement, including “informants and undercover agents,” were involved in “almost all of the Muslim-American terrorism plots uncovered in 2012,” the Triangle team finds. That’s in keeping with the FBI’s recent practice of using undercover or double agents to encourage would-be terrorists to act on their violent desires and arresting them when they do
So I ask again, why do you single out Muslims?

While I'm not in favor of singling out Muslims with no ties to radical or extremists organizations, I am in favor of giving them a little more scrutiny.
My justification? Your stats.
33 out of 300 is 11%. Less than 1% of the U.S. population is Muslim.
Your stats clearly indicate there is a problem.

Hypothetically, should religious freedom apply to a religion that is itself violently, militantly opposed to religious freedom (and the rest of the Constitution)?
Every freedom has its limits, especially when people try to use that freedom to violently limit the freedoms of others. No freedom is absolute and any religion that tries to hide behind the First Amendment while calling for its followers to kill non-believers will find no legal refuge there.

Oh, and while you're giving it "a little more scrutiny" would might want to go back and re-read the part the FBI is playing and tie that in with who is funding these "terrorists" and where they're getting the money.

Wait, murder is a problem?
You didn't cite murder, brah. You cited "political violence and mass shootings" - and Muslims are committing these at over 11 times their proportion of the population.

Gosh, thanks for clearing that up for me.
Dude, if you can't keep it straight, there's only so much I can do.

FBI? What in the "political violence and mass shootings"? They're doing it, investigating it or compiling stats on it?
Is Hasan's "mass shooting" in these stats - because the man said that was "workplace violence" - so they can screw the victims' families and promote Hasan to Lieutenant Colonel.
quote:

We definitely funded Hasan and the Tsarnaevs - without military salary and entitlement, respectively.

Clearly there's a problem.
Oh, and I've forwarded your calculations to the MSM. They're always looking for propaganda.

I seriously had no idea there were 316 million Muslims living in the US. What's the total US population again?

All 33 of those deaths were due to religious zealotry from the same religion. Each of those mass shootings were from individuals acting of their own accord for no larger group interests, especially larger group interests that are responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths around the world already.
That's a big difference.

0.000005 percent, instead of 0.0000001.
Either way, make sure today that you do your civic duty and shite your pants in fear over it.

Go ahead and do that, if you must. But, you're the one that cited that < 1% of the population (Muslims) are responsible for 11% of the political violence and mass shootings, not me.
Dividing the number of deaths, 33, out of the population of the United States seems irrelevant in this context, but, you quite obviously march to the beat of a vastly different drummer, than do most of us. I guess you're just a rebellious, independent thinker.

Why on God's green Earth are you working so hard to change the topic from what the Muslim community should be doing to what the federal government shouldn't be doing.
If you want to discuss the federal government's role in funding terrorism, create your own thread.
