Well, you're right and you're wrong. Slightly fewer people would be outraged, because the art would be better, but the consequences would be much worse for Banksy, not in terms of criminal prosecution, but in terms of public demand for his work and an international fervor for finding out who he is.

But Banksy paints old buildings and run down, man made areas, not natural features, to my knowledge. People who defend him say he's beautifying run down areas. They'd run for the hills if he did this.

He paints where we live typically where graffiti already exists. He does arguably beautify. He's not defacing natures art in protected national parks.
