Shake, I hadn't studied the film on that series but thanks for posting it. Yeah, Howard looks a little gassed, but look at the rest of it. On the tackle for loss, there is no wideout on the left and our boundary corner (Hilton, #28) is free to come up and make the stop even if Howard made his block on the DE. maybe not for as big a loss, but still would have stuffed the run. 

That clip also demonstrates what I mentioned earlier in this thread. Look at #94, Gross, an "undersized" 250 pound nose tackle. He lives in opponents' backfields every week. Also, this series was late in the 3rd quarter when D-lines are supposed to be gassed. 

My point was that it's very difficult to run against this defense, even by a strong O-line like Bama's. They got 3 points on that series only because a rare blown coverage allowed a long pass, not because of their running game.
