I'll admit I'm more sensitive to this than I used to be. My kids are still all 7 and under, and I've always maintained that my kids won't have social media, phones, etc until much later (play outside, dammit).

But I have friends with kids between 9-16, and they said they finally gave in after realizing depriving a 12yr old of social media was basically ensuring he/she won't have many friends, much less a girl/boyfriend unless they live next door.

It's a shame. I dread the day I have to make these decisions.
