Roth has been a part of nine undefeated district championship teams at Rummel, including six as its head coach. And in 2001, that was the case. The Raiders were preparing for a playoff game against a little school, but a powerhouse up in Shreveport. Evangel was coming to town for the teams' first ever playoff game, and the home-field advantage, Roth said, allowed his team to take a 10-9 into the locker room at halftime. Evangel scored 32 unanswered in the second half, but Roth still recalls the atmosphere at that playoff game at Yenni. "The first time we played Evangel in the state semis, we pulled up to the stadium at 5:30 and it was standing room only," Roth said. "That was something the kids couldn't even imagine. To leave at halftime with the score 10-9 with a chance to go the state championship was great."

I remember going to this game before I went to Rummel, but had a brother in the band so I went. I was maybe 14?

That atmosphere was unreal and I'm certain it is top 3 in crowd capacity for that stadium. Both sides were packed in and there were people lined up all along every fence opening behind both scoreboards.

Even though Rummel was waxed by Booty and company, it is a great memory.
