I actually hated the lifeproof case. The cord that connects to listen to music would always screw up the sound, so I'd have to take it out the case to listen to music for running, travel, etc. Plus it's overpriced.

I bought a life proof and took it off to use headphones. Lost that bastard. Had it 8 days

It was pricey, yes. But the waterproof aspect has made it worth it for me. Haven't had issues with the headphones yet.
Seriously, if you can wait two days I'll give you my otterbox
