We are sitting right there with her. It makes no sense to send that much homework home. It's counterproductive IMO.

Exactly. If these assignments are taking 4 hours, that's either poor teaching or she's not absorbing at school. Having assignments is not a problem but they should each only take max 30 minutes to complete at that age.
