I have one that has been in the family for generations - old trapdoor in great condition. I remember watching dad and his friends shoot it when I was young but it has not been fired in years. Thinking about shooting it during primitive weapon season - would be cool to take a deer with a gun that my grandfather shot when he was young . Open sights. Anyone have any experience shooting one of these old guns?

What ammo do you plan on using? Modern 45-70 loads can be considerably hotter than what was around when that rifle was made. Ten X makes a black powder replacement load, I'd call them to double check for that in an old rifle.
