Police service is an obvious service that would be provided by the St. George city government. As such, the costs of operating the Sheriff's Department should decrease as it would no longer require the same level of patrolling inside St. George.

They specifically say SG's only "policeman" will be the chief of police since that is a requirement for all municipalities to have a chief of police unless the city gets an exemption from that requirement of the Lawrason Act of the legislature which governs municipal requirements. The SG chief of police will only be responsible for coordinating security for SG with the EBR sheriff's office.
