And what about those who can't get into the magnet program? frick them, right?

And what about the 6,200 magnet students who live in SG but go to schools in Baton Rouge and who will be forced to either leave their schools or their parents must move into Baton Rouge?

frick them, right?

That knife cuts both ways.....

I don't have a dog in this fight, Russian. I'm on the sidelines watching this spectacle because that's all it really is. I just wanted to point out that he seems to be a special case where he was fortunate enough to get his kid in a magnet school, which I agree is the way to go in EBR. But there are thousands of students who don't get that type of education in EBR.

I suppose the argument that you would hear in rebuttal to that is that SG schools would be just as good as EBR magnet. But that's no guarantee and who knows when, if ever, those schools would reach that point. Like you've said, this vote doesn't even create a school district.

Are you positive that is an accurate number?

I believe there are 42,000 or so kids in the EBR system currently give or take some. That would mean one out of every seven kids in the EBR system go to a magnet school (or gifted) inside the BR city limits.

That might be the case, maybe the Magnet/Gifted program is way larger than I suspected if that many SG kids are in it. How many "city" kids are in it?
