Going forward there will not be the same amount of money for fire protection, and there will not be the same amount of money for road repairs

The money for fire protection - St. George Fire Department and the Eastside Fire Department has its own funding that will not change with or without a new city and the money for roads such as the Green Light Plan has dedicated funding as well and that also would not change with or without a new city.

So you are perfectly willing to leach off of Zachary, BR, Baker, and Central if you get your new town?

You're correct about the Green Light Plan being a parish wide tax that would still apply to new road construction planned for all over the parish.

However road repairs of city, not parish, roads would be the responsibility of the city of St George just like the Zachary & Baker Departments of Public Works are responsible for the repairs of city streets within their city limits.

The SG proposed budget has allocated a whopping $500,000 for road repairs and right of way maintenance annually. That's about a mile of street overlay.

And remember the proposed city of SG is larger in area than the area of the city of Baton Rouge. At least it was before all of the annexations happened. It's probably about the same now.
