They can fly in from another country and maybe not got screened because of it.

And regarding the screening process, aren't they primarily just taking someone's temperature?

You ban all contaminated countries by passport and any visas on the passport within last 6 months from those same countries...and you still take temps of all passengers from any country. Pretty easy to do with competent leaders. No passport no entry....except the failure to secure the Mexican border....but that's another failure of a different color

I hear this a lot, and it's absolutely logical.

However I don't see how that makes screening direct flights from infected areas a bad idea. It's a common sense starting point.
