Running plays from the gun does not make you a spread offense team. Every team in the NFL runs plays from the gun and under center.

Miles has recruited every position superbly except QB. See Bama as well on this.
LSU was not only pro style but it was built to beat Alabama and vice versa. Others have caught up and now the the team with the best QB has the advantage, if other units are competitive. The SEC has become a mini NFL and u will need a dominating defense or a very good QB to win it all.
LSU recognized the La trend and went hard after Mettenberger, theyve been looking coast to coast since and thus Cam Cameron was hired. U can blame Miles for not seeing the trend sooner, but the Perriloux disaster cut deep at the wrong time. Crap happens, its what u do about it, that counts.

LSU was in the shotgun plenty with Mett. We don't have a QB like that right now.
Hell, we even had plays where we rolled Jeremy Hill out of the backfield and did the Sean Payton 5 wide, in the Red Zone
Pro style doesn't mean that you don't use shotgun
