Shortening the periods of each quarter wont decrease the amount of minutes a starter plays if I have to guess. Might even increase it.

If a starter averages 36 minutes a game when its 48 minutes long he will probably still play 36 minutes a game if the game is 44 minutes long. Also decreases the advantage of having a deep bench with the less amount of game time.

Or Maybe I'm crazy. Who knows.
