Man I'm terrified of snakes and hate them as much as the next man but I wouldn't kill a garter snake. We've had the same one in our yard for the last 5 years or so. I see him every now and then but he's always slithering away from me whenever I get remotely close to him. I don't bother him, he doesn't bother me. Garter snakes are good to have around

I just can't fathom that a grown man living in LA has no idea what a garter snake is or looks like.
