I don't think it's gotten terrible but I do agree that is a fricking dumb storyline. it makes no fricking sense to save merlin

I thought his explanation to Thea was kind of lame. He said he didn't want Thea to have the guilt that he does for being responsible for their mother's and father's death. But he wasn't even responsible for their deaths. Ok, I guess I can see where he feels some responsibility for his mom's death (even though Slade killed her), but him feeling responsible for his dad's death is lame imo. I mean he didn't cause the boat to sink, that was Malcolm. And his dad shot himself to save Oliver.

But with that said, I think as it relates to the show, Oliver was just projecting his "fears" onto Thea. Everyone else is telling him he is crazy for that line of thinking. But Digs enlightens him that Thea isn't the only/real reason he went to Nanda Parbat, but that Oliver can't get away from the fact that he was no match for Ra's, and that messed him up. I think that "insecurity" is what will play on Oliver as the "Oliver being Ra's successor" storyline plays out.

Yeah, I thought his conversation with Dig made more sense. He wants revenge or at least another shot to prove himself. Having that sword driven through him had to have some kind of emotional impact (fear, doubt, etc..). He just can't more forward until things are settled with the league. Merlin's capture/death just wasn't enough to satisfy him..
