The average salary in Louisiana is 37K.
Hard to feed a family of 4 on that much less buy extra insurance. We have the same bills and problems other families do.

Wasn't there a big article in the paper recently about the highest paid people in the local government being police officers, particularly DUI cops that were working a lot of OT?
The 37K stat seems unrealistic to me when you consider all pay.
