Also, remember that since online purchasing has become the norm for the last 10 years, there is a lot of delicate gear that is being handled by the likes of UPS and FedEx. 20 years ago, this wasn't the case.

The delicate gear was usually shipped via pallet on a freight truck directly to the local dealer, where it was unloaded carefully, as the store owner usually oversaw, and traveled 20 feet to the back of the store.

Upon the sale, you would carefully put it in the trunk of your car and take it home...usually with no damage.

With Internet sales, the gear all need to take a second, long distance trip, but this time not by trucking on a pallet, but by UPS or FedEx--and herein lies the problem...they beat the crap out of things.

So, your gear just might have taken a bump that dislodged a small connection. Small set back for now, but after a few months, you will forget about it.

Hopefully you can be back running by Wednesday or Thursday.

I have had speakers set up where they had absolutely no low end--just dead. Then I moved the chair back 3 feet and the bass came alive--like flipping a switch.

Room placement is critical--especially the low end. Bass waves are big and long, and depending where you sit and where you place the speaker, you could be just inside or just outside the sweep of the bass waves.

If you really decide to get into this, I can recommend a few books to read about set up in rooms.

Instead of dropping $50k on better amps or sources, I decided to spend it on the most important piece of the audio chain--the room. When done properly, your system will "come alive".

I have heard $5000 systems in well done rooms that sound amazing...I have also heard $300,000 systems that were poorly set up in bad rooms and they were just lifeless.

You have good gear--get the most out of it with the placement.
