Just did a revamp of my system and have just ordered my first turntable. Rega RP8 with the Exact cartridge. I am looking forward to diving into analog and pairing it with my McIntosh tube preamp. It needs to get here soon so I can take the empty shelf back from the wife.

Preamp: McIntosh C2500
Amps: 2 x McIntosh MC352's
Speakers: B&W 802D

I would really like some suggestions on must have albums on vinyl and what pressing to get. I want to start small and see how much I like vinyl and go from there. So , looking at getting some standards in each of the genres I lilke

Look for 180g vinyl. The weighty ones don't vibrate and distort as much. A lot of artists remaster their old albums in this format. As far as must have albums go, that depends, but Dark Side of the Moon comes to mind. So does Lazaretto by Jack White, he made the album to be heard on vinyl and there's also some hidden things on there. He has a YouTube video out about it

Ryan Adams plays to the vinyl crowd.

Also the beatles mono versions just released and they are all 180g vinyl. Revolver and Sgt Peppers are must listens IMO, especially Revolver.

I sometimes think I have a good setup and then see stuff like this. I just can't imagine owning that much high end audio stuff. It's like a dream setup for me. I'd like to listen to a McIntosh one day.
