Two different cities in two different states, and yes, two different mayors. They butt up right next to each other along the state line, so we basically share the same metro area, if that makes any sense.

KCMO is the older of the two, and was actually founded before the state of Kansas was. The name comes from the Kansa indian tribe.

Weren't both cities named several different things before they finally settled on "Kansas City"??

How long of a drive would it take you to get from downtown to the other downtown?

looked up their separate wiki pages, and both cities have a separate population, so that doesn't really make much sense. There must be a line drawn somewhere. Is it exactly at the state border?
