I agree, but it wasn't the lack of Godzilla that I didn't like. I was just pointing that out to another poster because I'd seen it on honest trailers.

It could be that you are spoiled by Michael Bay movies with no heart or plot, therefore expect to be spoon fed action scene after action scene.
I cannot tell you how much I love this response.
I suppose it could be that way, but seeing as how I'd rather shoot myself in the dick than sit through the average Bay movie, it probably isn't. As FK pointed out, the characters were shallow, incredibly so, and the only reasonably well-developed one (redacted for spoilers). The plot was incoherent and never seemed to choose a path. It just jumped around from character to character, all of whom just stand around watching monsters break things. Actually, the movie seems to have wanted to go in the direction of the Michael Bay movies you love so much, but even in that regard, it fails spectacularly.
If, as you suggest, their intention was to make a serious, contemplative fricking Godzilla movie, then they, and you, are complete, nerf-chewing idiots whose drivers licenses should be revoked and whose testicles should be removed.
