bed rest and BP medication. Shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Man, I am sorry to hear that. Lot's of bed rest. Good luck.

My wife had it. Stayed on BP meds for 6 months after delivery.

You, not much.
Her, she needs to be careful and kept a close eye on. Can get dangerous in a hurry.

She's gonna be in the bed a lot. More work for you!

Try to get her to relax and not go into labor for another couple of weeks if possible. Everyday she can stay pregnant is extremely beneficial for the baby (obviously).
If she can go another 1-2 weeks that would be awesome.
Is this your first child?

Anything from bed rest to them walking in and saying "Congrats, you are going to be a Dad in 20 minutes because we are inducing labor."
It all depends on a combination of how the mom's system is handling the stress and how the baby is taking it. They are going to be monitoring her labs and urine output for a variety of factors as well as ultrasounding the baby to check on it.
Good news is that, even though they still don't know what causes the condition, they have a pretty good handle on how to deal with it.
I am assuming you are at a reputable Woman's Hospital or other decent facility with a full OB Department? If not, get to one.

Your baby will probably be coming early but they will try to delay it as long as possible. My wife had hypertension but never developed preeclampsia. Good luck.

Good luck. I am sure she and the babe will be fine.
On a side note, this is what I am worried about with Mrs. MST. I live in NY and she is in Boston for a year. Things are going to get very complicated if she gets this.

It varies obviously but hopefully just bed rest and some BP meds for your wife.
I've seen a few young (i'm talking 19 and 20 y/o) get preeclampsia and then have devastating strokes, so it can be dangerous. Of course, these patients didn't get medical attention they needed so they are very different from your wife.
She should be fine. Good luck!

Usually bed rest and watching diet. Happened to my sis who was pregnant w/ twins. Ultimately, she spent last six weeks of her pregnancy in the hospital because her BP went up and down.

My wife was diagnosed with it at 20 weeks.... 3 weeks later she was admitted and our baby was delivered a few days later at 24 weeks weighing 16 ounces... Her condition can rapidly decline so it's important that she's forthcoming with how she's feeling. At 31 weeks, y'all should be good to go from a premature delivery aspect with are relative minimum stay (few weeks) in the nicu if they have to deliver.
My wife's BP jumped up to 210/120 quick as her organs were showing signs of failure. Make sure the doctors give her the celestone to promote lung development in the baby. My little stayed in the NICU for 5 months and required oxygen even after we were discharged. We were at Woman's here in Baton Rouge, it's a great place to say the least.
Let me know if you want my email address, as I'd be happy to answer any questions.

My wife was diagnosed with it this last pregnancy. My MIL had a BP monitor for her to use. We went in for a check up because of headaches and BP bouncing around. At the doct appointment, my wife starte having contractions every 2 mins. This was at 32 weeks. We were in the hospital for about 30 hours. She felt like full labor before they gave her that shot. Once the contractions stopped, we went home. She got them repeatedly until she was induced at 38 weeks. Started going to the doctor 2-3 days a week. Women's hospital was awesome.
My boy was borned 07/08/2014. The last 24 hours was very stressful.

My best friends wife had it and the baby came a month early. The baby spent about 5 nights in NICU b/c they were making sure the lungs were fully developed. Everything is fine now and the baby is healthy at 4 months old. The mom got really swollen and is having a little trouble losing some of the baby weight but that is all.

She needs rest. Don't stress her out. Prayers to you and her.

My wife has it pretty bad right now and we are scheduled to deliver tomorrow.(twins)
She got it at around 30 weeks. The doctors said she would probably go at 34 weeks, but she hung in there and today is 37 weeks.
The swelling she incurred is what the doctor described as being "extreme" so I don't know if your wife will be as bad. Her blood pressure is very high, but they don't take the babies until 160/100.
The swelling is super intense at the ankles and gradually worked its way up to the lower abdomen. It's pretty freaky because it was clearly defined where the swelling stopped. Her legs are so rigid and hard, yet they are huge. I guess they're filled with blood and other bodily fluids.
So, lack of mobility is the biggest problem. She has a hard time getting around the house, putting her clothes on, getting out of the tub, etc. I basically do everything for her around the house and help her put her pants on.
We got a lazy boy at 32 weeks and she found it to be helpful up until around 35 weeks. All I can say is.. good luck and keep in mind that premature babies do a LOT better now than they used to.
