No. We are only 1 game back in the division. Atlanta and Carolina both have problems.

We just need to find 7 more wins on the schedule. I think we beat Carolina twice, split with Tampa, and beat Atlanta at home. That gets us to 5. I think we beat Frisco at home and we go to Pittsburgh and get a W. The season hinges on the Monday night home game vs. BMore and we have in the past played well at home on prime time.

The rest of the division still has to face the same tough schedule that we do. Falcons O line is falling apart and Teddy just thrashed them. Panthers have 0 RBs worth a crap and Newton still seems slowed by his ankle. And Tampa is starting Mike freaking Glennon.

No need to panic or worry about must win games. The defense needs to tighten up and we need to finish a few drives. This team can still make the playoffs. No doubt.

I honestly think we win out vs the division the rest of the way.

I think after the bye week, this offense is going to go in 2011 mode

Still, being realistic, the earlier we get to. 500, the better chance we have

How the saints perform Sunday is the key. How the fans show up is also key. The fan base has to show they are still in it. Yes Minn was a victory but the team was still flat and the dome was quiet.
The season can still be turned around but I'm tired of hearing about all the "talent" on the roster. Paper champs don't win championships! Talk is cheap! Anyone remember Phillys dream team? Never get high on your own shite!

What if we lose to Tampa? Do we just blow up the season and let all the young guys play and get experience?

There is no way in hell we lose to Tampa.

If we lose to Tampa, season over.

Even if we beat Tampa (we will), I think we lose at Detroit. The Lions have the best offense we will have faced, and they will scorch the pitiful Saints defense. Brees will have an amazing game, and it will be a shootout Something like 38-35, or 41-38.

We could win, but I have zero faith in this awful defense.

Atlanta @ NY Giants

Chicago @ Carolina

I'm picking losses for both ATL and CAR, and the Saints will win this weekend.

You think so? Lions have the #1 ranked defense in the whole NFL. 2nd best against the pass. 6th against the run. Held the Packers to 7 points.

I still have faith in Drew Brees and our offense. Home or road.

I have zero faith in the 2014 Saints defense.

They might look like shite right now, but they will have 2 weeks to prepare for this. Also, this is an incredibly interesting matchup. The lions run a similar offense to the Saints; Lombardi being there has certainly played a major part in this. Payton/Ryan will have a good idea as to what the Lions will run offensively and vise versa. Taking out this dynamic, let's look at the Saints recently under the Payton/Brees era after a bye week:

2013: Saints 35 Bills 17 W
2012: Saints 35 Buccaneers 28* (No Payton) W
2011: Saints 49 Giants 24 W
2010: Saints 34 Seahawks 19 W
2009: Saints 48 Giants 27 W

Last 5 seasons after a bye week the Saints are averaging 40.2 PPG

The Lions have a stout defense so far this year which should make for a good game, but with an extra week to prepare...I like our chances.

If this team can't prove it can win on the road, then making the playoffs at 8-8 or 9-7 is meaningless because they'll get drubbed once wild card round is over.

I guess at this moment, I'm having trouble envisioning either team going off for 40. The Lions, to this point, haven't really been an explosive offense either. Efficient, but not explosive. The running game hasn't gotten on track yet.

I don't see 40+ for either, mainly because the offenses are almost replicas. It's why I think it will be a great matchup. I do have confidence they can go in there and win coming off 2 weeks to prepare though.

I think it'll be around a 23-20 game.

Fair counterpoint. But how many of these were in the Superdome? I would venture to say at least 4 of 5.

You're correct. Tampa was the only away game.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to a great game. I can't remember the last time Lions played the Saints in Detroit. It certainly puts an extra spin on things, with so many former Saints with the Lions now.
