Well this thread proved you can't question the popular opinion.

I don't think OP was trying to troll - and yet, even when some agree but still praise Seinfeld...

It's as if you say Seinfeld is sort of overrated...everyone goes apeshite.

There's a legitimate argument Cheers is the best sit-com ever for all the reasons the OP stated.

I don't know if it is the best...but is the most well-rounded with all the characters and storylines.

Seinfeld (as great as it was) felt like one episode was the same note after another...

No surprise they finished with the argument over the button on the shirt...that was Seinfeld...a limited writer show - who have a specific idea over and over and over again.

I love the show but this idea that you can't critique it or love some other show is preposterous.

so because they repeated one idea in 9 seasons that means it was a limited writer show?

Meh, that's an extreme generalization to say it was the same premise each show.

The show was about 4 neurotic, self-centered people navigating the minutiae of daily life that we all think about but don't really talk about, or at least didn't until then. That's why Seinfeld holds up so well -- almost every daily occurrence is some sort of reference to something they did.

Definitely a toss-up with Seinfeld and Cheers, with MASH being next in line.
