Why is the US scared to charge the Oklahoma beheader with terrorism?

He said he did it due to Islamic beliefs and learned from watching ISIS videos. He and his mom had terrorist pictures on their facebook (pics of twin towers, Bin Laden, ISIS, etc) and other shite on their pc's. He confessed to the crime and said he did it because of USA bombing in Syria/Iraq. Yet the FBI says they found "no indication that Alton Alexander Nolen was copying the beheadings of journalists in Syria by the Islamic State ... adding that they are treating this as an incident of workplace violence."
He also posted this on his FB:
"This do we find the clear precedent that explains the particular penchant of Islamic terrorists to behead their victims, it is merely another precedent bestowed by their Prophet." He also added a citation from the Quran: "I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers; smite ye about their necks." "Smite" means a heavy blow or stroke with a weapon. The terrorist who killed Colleen Hufford "smote" her neck when he cut it, reportedly with the same knife he used to slice produce when he worked at Vaughan Foods.

Don't want to upset the filthy muslims.
Rather, let's just be murdered by them, one by one.

He's being charged with murder and will face the death penalty. What difference does it make?

Obama wants to claim that he won the War on Terrorism, so if you don't call it terrorism it is not terrorism. It is workplace violence.

Political correctness has paralyzed sensible thinking in this country. We seem to have no clue of the danger radical islam is to the world.

Because Obama dammit!!
Lets throw in a hate crime charge too. That will make him more deader when he's dead.

but he wasn't told to perform the act, by an ISIS member, which means, he did it on his own terms, and not under the direction, of a terrorist group.

What statute would that be? Would it be a federal crime or a state crime? I think you might find it right next to hate crime. Murder is the appropriate crime to prosecute.

Same reason the government decided to start the "Loose lips sink ships" campaign in WWII when German subs were sinking ships off of our eastern coast. They wanted to keep people quiet and not let them get too rambunctious about our nation coming under attack.
It is propaganda to hide a rising issue that could stir up the only thing that can tear our government back down to its foundation: the people.
If you don't call it terrorism, it doesn't exist. The good ole "if I ignore it, it isn't there" tactic. That only works for so long if the problem continues to arise...

Hate crime, terrorism or whatever else you want to call it, makes no difference, because at the end of the day, it's still murder. Why should we waste time trying to figure out why someone murdered if they're going to get the death penalty anyway. It reminds me of the silly attack ad on W for not signing a hate crime bill into law when he was governor of Texas, featuring James Byrd's daughter saying that because of W, her "father was killed all over again", despite the fact that Byrd's murderers received the death penalty. The #1 objective is ultumately the death penalty, not which obscure law was used to get a conviction.

Why are conservatives so averse to calling anything a hate crime yet love calling crime terrorism? If murder is murder, regardless of intent, then murder is murder.

What is the charge of "terrorism"? He's being charged with the crime of murder because he murdered someone.

We should do away with thought crime altogether.
This should only go to motive as part of the proof. Hate should not be a crime in an of itself.
