Munson was the John Riggins of baseball. A lot of mystique, grit and guts type of player.
7x all star, 2 rings, MVP, and a few GG's...not too shabby a resume.
And he was a Yankees captain. The latter prob the most significant of all. Plus the sympathy of a well liked player dieing in a plane crash = Cooperstown...imho
