I already have a hard time watching NFL games. They have gotten exceedingly boring and tedious. Seriously 4 hours for 11 minutes of action. The recent controversies just add more reasons to change the channel.

The NFL has been getting worse and worse each year. I find myself getting less and less interested outside of Saints games, when I used to follow the NFL just as much, if not more than, college football. All of the BS defensive penalties added in the last 10 years have basically made pass defense illegal and the game has adjusted accordingly. I remember when throwing for 300 yards was a GREAT game, not a routine performance. I remember when running backs were valuable, not expendable. I remember when linebackers and safeties didn't have to constantly worry about hitting "the strike-zone" when making a tackle, and when QB's were allowed to get hit.
The league has gone soft and has become much more PC and much less interesting.

Am I the only one who thought the Sunday Night game had an absurd amount of commercials? Or maybe they seemed like a lot cause Dallas was up 738-0.

I didn't get to watch until late in the 3rd quarter. Commercials have always been bad and even worse in primetime. NOTHING is worse than a 2:30 CBS SEC game, though.

I have found myself liking college football more and more and in fact I have spent half of the NFL Sunday's so far doing outdoor activities that I didn't get to do on Saturday.
So I'm not purposely missing the NFL games, I just would rather do some other activities.
I'm finding all the talk and analysis before and after the games to be more interesting than the game itself.

I've basically quit watching already.
I still watch the Saints if they happen to be on here in L.A. and I don't have anything better to do.

It hasn't been one thing that made me stop, it's just that I don't like the NFL game as much as I used to, though I still LOVE CFB.
There are too many commercials and the game is over-officiated. I also hate that every year there are new rules or areas of emphasis that make it easier on the offenses and handcuff the defenses.
I don't need to see the hard, violent hits and targeting, but I hate that almost every time a DB makes a good play some BS flag is called.
Gooddell, for a variety of reasons has taken the fun out of the NFL for me.

He has accomplished the complete opposite of what he set out to do.
4. players wearing pink, bountygate, defenseless receiver rules. Had the NFL wanted, they could've just ignored everyone and made out fine. There is such thing as implied consent and bountygate and gay defense won't sway a courtroom. All of these moves and a host of others were made with the sole purpose of winning in the court of public opinion.
I would argue the only thing roger goodell and the NFL care about is public perception. He lacks any and all business sense and I'm not sure he, or the owners for that matter, understand why people like the NFL so much. Case in point "wifi at the stadiums yall, now ereybody be buying up tickets"
Tagliabue and the owners had demonstrated a desire to become vertically integrated and cut out the networks and just sell the NFL as a PPV/season pass. (similar to what they've done with the sunday ticket package). Whether or not that would've been a good move, that's a business decision. Roger Goodell just knows how to wave his hands around and string together "buzz" words while saying absolutely nothing of substance.
Had his father not been a U.S. Senator, nobody would know who the frick Roger Goodell even is.

the hit on the TE last Thursday night was flagged. If that hit is flagged, I don't know what you can do. Defenseless receiver rules are the absolute pits and there is no way to even consistently enforce them.

If the Rams would ever fold or cease to being the Rams I'd probably quit watching. As it is now I only watch when they are on TV and only look up the results of the Rams games/follow them online.

I've basically quit watching football (both college and NFL) unless I am at a restaurant/bar or invited to watch a game at a friends house.
Sunday I watched baseball all day and did some work around my house and Saturday I went to an event in New Orleans and didn't watch a second of football all day.

I have never really watched the NFL. The only NFL game that I consistently watch all the way through is the Super Bowl. But I think this might just be a southern thing. People continue to watch in massive numbers. As long as the audience doesn't leave the NFL the game will continue to get worse from a fan's perspective.
I'm an Alabama fan. As a result, I love good defense. You can't find good defense in the NFL these days.
No offense to Saints fans, but Drew Brees isn't the greatest QB ever. His 5,000+ yard seasons have more to do with the rule changes than they do with him being elite. Though he is elite, he's not THAT elite.
