15 year old could have been born after August causing her to be a year older in each grade.
17 year old could have been born earlier in the year.
Or the 17 year old "loser" could be smarter than the 15 year old mentally retarded freshman daughter.

Nah.
I turned 17 in October my senior year.
Those with early birthdays turned 15 freshman year.. especially those held back a year.

There are 2 grades in between, 3 years apart. One obviously had a birthday sooner in the year than the other. Makes perfect sense

I know the school calendar is different now but in my day me and a friend both born in 1975.
I turned 14 freshman year in December, he turned 15 in January.
So as a SR I turned 17 in December. A girl with January birthday would be 15 our spring semester. Silly goose.
