This is the problem

No it isnt. Until the last cycle Michigan and State haven't been competing for the same kids on the recruiting trail. State has done a great job at finding lower ranked kids and developing them into great college players. Michigan has been recruiting the same blue chip kids that they always have. Both schools can be successful.

The problem is Brady isnt a very good coach, and outside of Greg Mattison hasn't hired good assistants. The best coach outside of Mattison left because Michigan wouldn't give him a raise, and now they have a coach, coaching a position that he never has solely to keep him on staff.

Fred Jackson was a pretty good RB coach, and a nice guy, but apart from him and Mattison, that's definitely a concern. I'm surprised he didn't fire Funk along with A. Borges last year (wonder how he was as a recruiter, though). I also Forgot about Jerry Montgomery, but he left for OU a few yrs ago.
