With Neshek and Gregerson, the bullpen could go from a huge hole in 2014 to one of the strengths of the team in 2015. Qualls, Neshek and Gregersen plus Tony Sipp who was good for us last year. And remember Will Harris who we picked up from the Dbacks? Only pitched 29 innings last year but had a 2.91 ERA in 52 innings in 2013. Then theres Josh Fields. He was terrible early on. 12.00 ERA through May 6. But following that, he quietly posted a 2.32 ERA with 55SO/10 walks in 42.2 innings the rest of the year.

I've also heard they're trying to bring back Veras, who has been pretty good for us the past two years.

We said this last year when we got Albers and Crain but this should really bolster the club. Exactly what we needed. I am off the Dominguez bandwagon and would be pumped to get Lowrie, either to play SS or 3B. High OBP guy, low K's, productive AB's - the opposite of Matty D.

Speaking of Albers, I guess there's no chance of bringing him back on a 1 year deal?

He struggled in Chicago but came back here and did really well. I hope we bring him back.

This is setting up perfect with the new TV deal

This was best case scenario in terms of upgrading our bullpen. We weren't going to get the "A-listers" like Robertson and Miller who were commanding the most money. I am glad that we pursued them, though, even if we didn't really stand a chance. Because we did, people knew were committed to spending money and improving the ball club. That may have improved our prospects with Neshek and Gregerson.

Neshek and Gregerson have terrific track records. It remains to be seen if one can close long term, but I'm happy to take my chances with one of them over what we've experimented with recently.
