Who'd pay $300 to squirrel hunt? I know that counts meals and a night stay, but it's not like they have to prep squirrel plots or bring in any genetics to form trophy sized bushy tails

i find cheaper hunts. Went to ohio during gun season for $800 and it was 1200acres 4 day hunt. Been to kentucky for $850 1000acres 4 day hunt. And another kenyucky place was $1000 for 800 acres 4 day hunt.

Cheaper hunts are out there that are not "guaranteed" But you will have a blast. On our ohio hunt we killer 6 deer with 2 being nice 8 points. And we aleays see a ton of deer in kentucky and killed a couple nice ones

I've had good and bad experiences with these bargain hunts, I won't go on them anymore unless someone I know personally has been and can vouch for them.

And ohio gun season is like 3 days and its shotgun only so slug or buckshot. We all took Slug guns. Also can use muzzleloader

Giles Island's pries are actually way more reasonable than a lot of equivalent places in Texas/ Iowa/ Illinois/ Montana. To shoot a 150 inch buck in Texas you are looking at 8 grand easily and that is anytime of the year not just a primetime rut hunt.

I hunted Giles Island many times, even when we had 4500 acres of private property in Texas. They have a first class set up.

You can get into a 150" buck a lot cheaper than that. Those places charging $8,000 or more offer guaranteed hunts but you can go to Alberta/Saskatchewan or elsewhere and with a little luck harvest a fair chase 150" buck for $4,500-$5,000. No guarantees, but with a 60-70% or greater success rate the odds are certainly in your favor. No way I'm dropping $8,000 on a whitetail hunt.

Ive considered it.

Instead of:

Setting up/maintaining a camper/camp
Food plots/stands
Lease fees
Scouting/trail cameras
Atv
Time spent hunting without seeing shite

The cost prob arent that far apart. Some people like the time spent doing all that. Some don't.
