At least 20% of Americans in the 24-54 year-old age group are exactly unemployable.

My wife is a lawyer who frequently has interns. She says most of them can't write for shite - these are people either in law school or recently graduated.

When I was a lab TA at LSU I couldn't believe how much effort it took to explain scientific notation - to engineering majors in their 3rd year on average!

I'd argue this is due to the "You must go to college" generation finally making their way into the real world.

My parents did it to me. Fortunately, I was able to take what I learned, graduate, and apply it to my life to get me where I am today (great job, great pay and an enjoyable place to work).

Unfortunately, because of the "must go to college" mentality, you have kids in 4 year programs taking 6 years to graduate with degrees that have no use for.

Vocational schools, technical skills, and other forms of post high school education need to be marketed and touted just as highly as "4 year colleges"
