Hinch, 40, was the Padres vice president of professional scouting from 2010-14. He resigned after the team fired GM Josh Byrnes in August. Hinch managed the Diamondbacks for partial seasons from 2009-10. They went 89-123 (.420) under his watch. He played seven years (1998-2004) as a well-traveled backup catcher.
