Sensible take on the season moving forward......

Ok, I've seen enough on this board without throwing my 2 cents in.
First of all let me say schematically I thought we were headed for disaster when we tried running I-formation against the brick wall of a defense Mississippi St. had and didn't try spreading things out and attacking them that way.
This strategy may have worked had we had the defense to stop St., but that didn't happen.
So why the problems? Well with all of the early NFL defections, it has made it basically impossible to miss as much as we have in recruiting certain areas and maintain a competitive roster. I really can't put all of that on Miles as some of the defections have been out of nowhere, and ill thought out, and no coach hits on a 100% of his recruits.
On the bright side we have a lot of young guys who have already proven they have the potential to be stars, and once they come around and are joined by some of the promising recruits we have coming in we should be back to be able to play at the level we are accustomed to.

Yeah. I think you have the right idea. No doubt a down year for LSU this year. Schematically I wish we would spread it out and start using some quick hitters for cheap yards when we need them. I think we figure this out later rather than sooner. We have talent. We will be back next year. This year will be fun regardless.

Please quit using that young team we can't win crap. That just means we either can't recruit or we can't develop players.

OK, if all of your marginal players are turning pro after 3 years, how do you expect to have the depth to compete in the SEC.....especially at places like the defensive line. You're being completely unrealistic if you expect every recruit to be a star right off the bat.

This is a leveling playing field. All of our competition has the same problem. So if we're not winning someone is screwing up.

A week from Saturday we'll get most of the answers about this season. Will Les improvise and ovecome, or will he stubbornly stick to his formula? The former might give us a shot at the barn, the latter will be a disaster.

Do you realize LSU has the most players in the NFL than any other SEC team currently? Have you missed the amazing attrition we've had with juniors entering early?

If you're just referencing the offense, then you really have no idea what the real problems are. Even with a good offensive effort the other night, we couldn't stop Mississippi St.

Bama has "lost" one less player than LSU in 2 years, they aren't hoping for a an 8 win season. A&M lost their best QB ever, their freshman QB doesn't seem to have a problem stepping in. The only way this makes sense is through screwing up in recruiting and not picking players by their true talent. Their are ton of other defensive linemen on this team that have not improved and are juniors and sophomores.

If you couldn't have stopped them on defense then the only thing to keep it close would be the offense. If the offense keeps it close I guarantee you don't lose that game. Offense keeps the defense off the field, giving the players more time to catch their breath, the coaches more time to make adjustments, and keeps the fans and home field advantage in the game. Key example is the fumble for touchdown, State comes back in and scores. If the offense would have responded I guarantee State would have started to doubt themselves.

Why are we hit harder than other teams in the top 10?
Could it be the players aren't confident that a championship is possible?

Most leave for the "possible" money, but make no mistake, if they thought an NC was likely or very possible, some of them would stay. a FRESHMAN HAS BOUGHT INTO THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS, OOPS-CAPS, a SOPHOMORE is encouraged by playing time, A JUNIOR sees the truth in out coaching staff...let's move on to greener pastures.
