Does anyone think the o-line would be any different had Kevin mawae been hired to coach this group? I don't know much about our current o-line coach but I know Mawae's 16 years of experience would have gone a long way.

Would they be better with studrawa? Online was very good last year and poised to be great this year. We only lost one to the nfl and for some reason the o line can't bust a grape.

I was optimistic about grimes bit I'm very disappointed in the results.

Don't forget that Todd McClure is hanging out in the stands too. Between Mawae and McClure they have many years in the NFL but just not sure if they would be able to coach the position.

Looks like Todd is enjoying retirement in Zachary raising bulls.

I don't know much about OL schemes, but it seems like we are running a more finesse scheme, and we have the wrong players for that.

I was just watching a few videos on Alfred Blue and Jeremy Hill, and the blocks were easy to come by even in tight formations. I saw long gains with 8 in the box.

I would say that we are in a transition mode and we will look like this until they figure it out.

I'm torn on this one right now.

At this point, I think it's safe to assume that the AU fans were right about grimes. On the other hand, his scheme is totally different that Stud's so that could be the problem here. It takes more than on offseason to implement a new scheme, and it's even tougher to do with established guys that have been in the old system for years.

Mawae doesn't have 16 years of coaching experience though. He may still have been a great coach, regardless, but not a sure thing. However, I think recruiting is probably the main reason he wasn't hired. A multi-millionaire who has young kids and is finally home to be with them for the 1st time, is likely not as motivated to hit the grueling recruiting trail every week as an assistant at LSU would need to be.
