Rubber - I know I'll never watch a worse movie in my entire life.

I think everyone who appreciates cinema should watch it. I will say the opening monologue is one of the best I've ever seen.

I'm going to be honest and get made fun of.

I still remember how awesome Transformers was back in 2007. It is almost like BC and AD.

Very good movie. McAvoy was great. I can definitely see where the ending would stay with you.

For me, its definitely Boyhood. Just a remarkable job of film making. I know it was three hours, but when it ended I wished it was longer. I wanted more.

Generation War. Not a movie, but a TV Mini-Series on Netflix. It WWII drama/action from a German perspective, centering around a group of five friends that take separate paths the eventually intertwine.

Watched Citizen Kane for the first time the other night. I usually hate old black and white movies and really really enjoyed it. It definitely lived up to the hype and filled something I'd been missing

12 Years a Slave

Probably one of the most impactful movies I've ever watched.

I recently saw this, as well. I have mixed emotions, but it certainly did leave a lasting impression. For many reasons, the issue of slavery and race relations in general is such a sensitive topic, it's hard to trust that a factual movie about slavery in the antebellum south is not tainted in some way.

It's very hard, even with benign historical events, to present a factual account of the past that contains accurate sensibilities of the time. We can't help but look at historical events through our own modern perceptions.

There is no doubt that slavery was atrocious and evil. The violence and degradation are simply hard to fathom in retrospect. But I think there's something missing in the big picture, and it's important to try to understand what that is. In order to understand how human cultures can develop such routine acts of inhumanity, I think it's necessary to get a balanced and factual account (as much as possible) so that theories of the how's and why's can be postulated.

In simpler words, I wonder how accurate the portrayal was of slavery in the movie. Certainly, some slaves were treated that badly and worse!, but is the portrayal balanced? So many of the slave holders seemed certifiably sadistic and intemporate. If that was a true reflection of slave holders generally, how did they become such an intensely evil group?

Just watched Grave of the Fireflies last month. Great movie, but it'll leave you pretty depressed.

Elysium. It made me hate Matt Damon and Jodi Foster, and that's a tall arse order.
