This thread title is a little misleading. He cherry picked the most ridiculous quote in the article and took it out of context.
Gordon is finally saying the right things. Get off the dude's back. We don't need any negative energy coming into this season.

He said he came close a few times, when was that? Gordon has to probe me wrong on the court to regain my respect. He had a chance to step up last season after the injuries where he could have the ball most of the time but didnt. He even stated that he shyed away after the injuries.

The best case scenario for this team is that Eric Gordon plays well, sets the tone for us on offense, drains threes, and plays well enough to be an all-star.
Dell has obviously been unable to trade him, so we have no choice, but to pull for him to succeed, and help us win some games.

I, too, want Eric Gordon to be an all-star

Gordon has set the bar high this season. He wants to be an All-Star participant like Davis was last season.
Again, out of context. Big difference between admitting it's a hard goal to achieve and just saying "I want to be an all star."

Another reason that an improved Gordon shouldn't be dismissed based solely on past performance:

These days he's wearing a svelte physique and a smile on his face.
..."The surgery was a while ago," Gordon said. "I've been on the court for the past four months and I'm able to do the things that I am able to do. Things are unlimited. I was able to have a good summer."
Plagued by injuries in each of his three seasons in New Orleans, Gordon hasn't been able to say that lately.
"It's been about three years," he said. "I was able to go about the summer and do things that you are normally used to doing."

Therefore we are now dumb enough to have hope.
