Never, ever flubbed a salute?

Not that bad.

Unless it was impractical to render a proper salute. One of my mentors was fond of telling OCs, "Alright, alright. Don't abuse us." while walking past a huge group of them (after returning at least a half dozen at that point). I can live with that.

Me, too, generally.

I don't believe you.

Don't, then. I have missed salutes, believe me, but it wasn't intentional. And don't get me wrong, I don't think POTUS intentionally flubbed the salute - but it's complete inattentiveness.

This isn't a situation where he's stationary, and troops pass by and render a salute - there's no telling how that plays out. This is him exiting his official aircraft. It was no surprise. He HAD to know there would be marines at the bottom of the ladder rendering salutes.

In fact, he would have probably raised hell if they weren't there. That's what makes it egregious.

Look - he's the Commander in Chief - the top dog, the head honcho, the big cheese, etc. If he wants to do away with the practice, just publish the memo and move on. If his hands were full (They weren't. The wrong hand was full. It's a subtle difference, but an important one.), that would also be understandable.

But, if you're going to do it - at his level - do it right. Again, he's the f*cking President for Pete's sake.

This thread is terrible and we should all be ashamed for making this a talking point/big deal. Few decades ago president didn't salute at all.
