This class, and recruiting, is about addressing needs. I'd love to print a recruiting championship shirt every year, but a top 10 class (which this will be) that fills needs is the name of the game. This class is all about OL, RB, and DBs. I'd say those areas have already been well covered, and the remaining spots are icing.

I agree.
Where are our stud d-lineman at ?

Banking on a big year in 2016. It may seem like we need them this year, but the reality is we have a bunch of young guys on the roster and the real studs just aren't in our territory for 2015.

That doesn't mean a thing when pointing out 1 specific class. As long as this class doesn't completely tank like the '12 class, we'll be okay. As long as we are in striking distance with A&M, Auburn and Alabama on a 3 year average, I won't complain.

Fair enough

While true, one could argue that is why we are in the shape we are in currently. We have players that are fringe NFLers that leave early every year...particularly on the DL as of late. That leaves huge gaps to fill with under-talented and/or inexperienced players.

The reason the NFL attrition has not caught up to Saban is because he doesn't have classes without Top tier DL and OL to sustain the anchoring system of the team.

Right now we are starting two guys that would not have touched the field even three years ago. The first guy off the bench (Godchaux) is a true freshman coming off an ACL tear that weights about 260 lbs.

To be a national title contender, you cannot afford to have classes without top tier DL and OL talent.

I think we land some really good OL in this class, but not DL. That is troubling (see last Saturday night).

Why don't you actually look at the early enrollments at LSU and Alabama the last two years before you talk out of your arse? Alabama has lost 2 undergraduate d lineman while LSU has lost 5. Furthermore, Bama has had 7 declare early to LSU's 18. The NFL has not got up to Saban because they have drafted half as many of his underclassmen.

Why do you think that is?

Bama has one DL recruit that's a four star this year, and he's basically an instate kid. Last year they took 6 highly rated OL, with only 1 the year before. Your narrative sounds great until you actually look at the facts. Even Bama has to answer for their depth chart. Every once in awhile you can snatch the odd man out, but position recruiting is very cyclical. There are most certainly position groupings struggling due to the draft at Bama, but that would ask you to look at them with an open mind, and you bringing them up in this thread tells me you won't.
