Why can't LSU run a screen?

Over the past 10 years, I can count on one hand how many screens we have run successfully. It amazes me that such a simple, effective play can't be run with the amount of talent we have coming out of the backfield.

are you only talking RB screens? because we were once pretty good at WR screens (yes even during Les' tenure), and now we suck at em.

we looked better this past game. looks like we're still working on it. we had one that would have been a big gainer had one block been made. our blockers were all concentrating downfield and completely missed the eventual tackler. the only MSU player within 10 yards of our ball carrier and three guys missed him.

imo, we just need to keep working on it in practice and games until the players learn how to execute it.

The flanker screens I've seen this year haven't been very successful, but it's a safe throw and we keep doing it.

Love to get someones point of view that played or coached the oline but what i saw saturday was on 2 different occasions one of our lead blockers could have peeled off and blocked the defender who made the tackle.

My question is...is that how it is taught? To ignore the nearest defender and make it the job of the rb to miss getting tackled? I think that is wrong and the purpose is to get the runner into open space...linemen should peel back instead of running downfield with no one to block.

At least for the RB screens, it's because the coaching staff doesn't know how to coach it.

If you Rewatch the games, look at every screen we run. There is always a oline or wr out in the area not touching anybody.

In a screen pass its important for every player to block somebody (anybody), but to often we have at least one guy not blocking anyone and that's the guy that makes the play.
