He was waiting until the media got out of their grill. He told her he was leaving her as soon as the street got clear. By the way, I'm reading the book right now. I'm gonna post a list (I will give the Spoiler warning) of things that are different. So far, I'm a bit more than halfway through, and there are things I like more and less about the movie. One thing is for sure, they did an incredible job writing the screenplay. Gillian actually improved some parts.
