Every time Jennings incompletes a 2nd down throw, I can literally feel Les get pissed about the fact he could have ran it for a 2-3 yard gain.

That is the philosophy that has got to change.

1st down- Run 90% of the time.
2nd down- Almost guaranteed run.

That usually sets up 3rd and 5-8 yards to go.

Jennings isn't Mettenburger. We aren't good or disciplined enough to constantly convert 3rd and mid to long.

With the O Line playing at the level it currently is, when we run on 1st and 2nd down, it will usually be mid to long to go.

Short memory? 1/9 as pretty terrible.

You just proved my point. The Oline play was hot garbage that night.

The day they played Oregon, Oline play was stellar.

Jennings has throw 75% 40 yard passes since Sam Houston.. He barley looks at the other receivers. All he looks at is the fly route most of the time

It's hard to block and run when 22 people are all between the hash marks.

I really hope les didn't think 2014 defense was on the level of 2011 and he could ride them.

I believe that was the miscalculation as stated in the press conference during the week leading up to the game. It appears both he and the coordinators came to the conclusion that the defense was stronger than they actually were.

sounds like he's anything but a "spread QB" (whatever that is)

spread qb's are guys the generally operate solely from shotgun and pistol formations. It lets them see the field easier and gives them a greater chance to run as their back is never to the defense to start the play.

i'd imagine we can't have that discussion until we know if jennings is seriously hurt or not

Honestly, I think it has always been evident. Since Les got here, LSU has run the same type of offense. Even in our best years under Crowton, we still ran a ton of this crap. I think even in 2008, the lack of an offensive identity (basically Crowton calling half his stuff, and forcing what Les wanted in the other half) is really what killed that offense and JLee's development.

Furthermore, Les' solutions/changes don't alter the overall scheme, but small things about it. One example is that rather than getting out of running i-form or 2 TE sets to run the ball predictably, he focused on allowing Grimes to shift to a zone blocking scheme, which has so far been disastrous.

In the end, Les is in no way near as good of a mind on his side of the ball as his counterparts (Saban on D, Sumlin on O, Mullen on O, Malzhan on O, etc.) and honestly seems to hinder this team with it.

Doesn't negate the fact that Oline played well in that game.

I think Mississippi State is an eye-opening loss, similar to Florida in 2012. The problem though is that the 2012 had a ton of talent and was easier to work with.

You keep saying this, but the only thing that happened after the UF game in 2012 is that Jeremy Hill became a bigger part of the offense. LSU still ran the same offense, it was just after UF that they realized they had a game breaking RB in Hill.

In 2012 the offense "changed" in the 2nd half of the Bama game when LSU was down 14-3 and it finally dawned on Les that LSU had no chance of winning if they didn't put the ball in the air. It continued the next week when LSU's D couldn't stop Ole Miss.

The play calling only becomes more aggressive when it absolutely has to. Not before. It's clearly evident that he doesn't trust his QB until he has no choice. 2013 is the lone exception, and I wonder how much of that was trust in his 2 great WRs as opposed trust in ZM?
