That is correct. It is built on the P30 frame. It accepts P30 mags. As far as the argument that it is a more expensive Walther, I am unaware of Walther putting any firearm through the torture tests that HK does. The P30 famously went through 90k rounds without a failure. This pistol is priced to compete with the gen 4 Glocks and it absolutely holds up. HK is supposedly planning a VP in .45 ACP and .40 SW as well.
