It tells me MSU was playing prevent with second string. A fluke snap over the head by their second string center is all that made it even watchable.

Yes it is, but a ball control offense drives people like Sumlin and Malzahn nutso. We don't need a wide open O to win or post a lot of points, we don't have the personnel for it....but we could definitely do much much better.
