State could have named their score. Leaving those 5 on the field is what gave us any shot to win the game on the last play.

If you're going to go on 4th, it needs to be a run/pass option with a TE in the flat. The play was very limited and Jennings never even considered pitching that ball. He was keeping it from the start.
Also the same play was called on 1st and 3rd. Fournette as decoy, TB playing FB up the middle.

And going for 2 down 12 is NOT the right call.
Down 12 ... if you make the 2 you're down 10. TD and FG ties it. Kick the extra point you're down 11 and need a TD, 2pt conversion and FG. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems like the right decision to me.

If you don't make it you need 2 TDs. Kicking the extra point is still just a TD+2 and FG.
It's called extending your opportunity to win as long as you can.

You are missing something. If you kick the extra point, it's a FG/TD game. If you don't get it, it's two TD game.

You might just want to quit trying, I don't think the ones in here are really all that understanding of this stuff.

Got it.

Just saying, you have a dual threat QB...use him. Does LSU ever run any run/pass options at the goalline?

The two point conversion chart created by Dick Vermeil, and used by most coaches at all levels of football, disagrees, but to each his own...this is just a guideline that doesn't take in to account various other factors.

In that article it says a team followed the chart and went for 2 to tie it at 14 in the 2nd quarter.
That's all I needed to read to know to not take it seriously.

It says you don't ever go for two until the 4th quarter and at that point, you can reference the chart.
Whether you agree or not, that exact chart is used by the majority of coaches in the NFL and College.

What was stupid was going for 2 down 12. That one was retarded.
